Safe Place
Safe Place’s black and yellow signs have become this city’s most recognizable symbol of help for our youth. They represent security, support and guidance for teens who often have no place else to turn. Over 400 locations around the Louisville area have partnered with us to display our signs, making our services easily available to any youth who needs help.
It’s More Than Just a Sign:
- You can come see us – corner of Eastern Parkway and Crittenden Drive, right next to the Denny’s in the 2 story brick building – open 24 hours, ring the bell if it’s after 5:00.
- Teens can go to any business, TARC bus or community center displaying the Safe Place sign and an employee at the site will contact a Safe Place team member.
- Within 30 to 40 minutes a trained volunteer will arrive and take you to YMCA Safe Place Services, where you will receive immediate help.

No problem or question is too big or too small. If we can’t help you, then we know who can and will point you in the right direction.
- School and Group Presentations
- Educate, train and maintain the 340 sites around Louisville and Bullitt and Oldham counties.
The Need:
Every day there are teens that need help and don’t know where to go to find it. Likewise there are parents who struggle to communicate with their teens who can’t afford other services or who are at their wits end about where to go for help.
Results:
- 50,000 teens are educated about the help available at Save Place Services
- 5,000 adults attended a community or business event about Safe Place
- 150 teens accessed a Safe Place site to get help
