YMCA Safe Place Services: Not what you might expect

“In a nutshell the safe place I lived in for about two weeks was more than I expected. I was surprised of how organized and secure this place was. The reason for me having to be a resident of safe place is because I felt mistreated and unsafe so coming here I thought I would be safe.

At first I was kinda down because I didn’t know anybody and I didn’t get to talk to my friends or family for a while. But in a short while I felt welcome by the staff and my fellow residents.

And the food oh…don’t even get me started. The food here is homemade by a very talented cook. Everything here wasn’t what I expected but I’m not complaining because with the staff helping me with my home problems I felt even more welcome.

All in all my experience here not only helped me in life, made me a better person, and made me look at things from a different perspective but I was respected and treated very very well. I’m sure anyone with difficulties at home would feel welcome here in no more than a day.” –Emery
